Alliance Receives MWEA Biosolids Management Award for City of Fredericktown Operations

At its 73rd Annual Meeting held March 24-26, the Missouri Water Environment Association honored the City of Fredericktown and Alliance Water Resources with its Biosolids Management Award. The award recognizes significant contributions in the area of biosolids management in the small facilities category, and was awarded to Alliance for wastewater treatment operations in Fredericktown, Missouri.

Last year, Alliance and the Fredericktown wastewater treatment operation received the “Plant of the Year Award” from the same organization.

The Fredericktown plant, is an oxidation ditch system with a capacity of 0.85 million gallons per day. It serves a population of 4,000. The system includes aerobic sludge digestion and ultraviolet disinfection technologies. Alliance has operated and maintained the plant since 1999.

“Fredericktown is a great community to work for and they really take pride in delivering top-notch services to their constituents,” says Bob Wimberley, Alliance\'s plant superintendent for Fredericktown. “Last year the city completed $1.2 million of improvements which expanded the plant\'s capabilities for land application of biosolids with a new sludge digester and holding facilities.”

“As contract operators, it\'s our job to operate this plant in the most efficient way possible,” says Wimberley. “Effective wastewater treatment—and that includes the proper disposal of biosolids generated in the wastewater treatment process—is essential for the protection of public health, and to preserve the water quality of streams throughout Missouri. We are constantly looking for ways to improve operations.”

In addition to Fredericktown, Alliance is currently serving more than a score of other communities in Missouri and Iowa. Alliance provides contract operations of municipal water and wastewater systems and total management and operations services for water and sewer districts.

Headquartered in Columbia, Missouri, Alliance Water Resources is the state\'s leading provider of contract operations for water and wastewater systems and total management and operations services for water and sewer districts.
